Dave Rae
Dave Rae began his broadcasting career in Glasgow Montana working at an AM Radio station in 1980 as a night time DJ from 7pm-to midnight. Dave worked in radio for 45 years before his retirement and did not attend post high school education studies the field of broadcasting. He learned from others he worked with and moved to mornings on KLAN FM in Glasgow in 1983.
Dave has won several Montana Broadcasting awards from the Montana Broadcasting Association (MBA) including his first Copywriter of the Year award in 1985 for a pizza restaurant ad he wrote that the business used for decades due to its effectiveness. He was awarded the Broadcaster of the Year award in 1986 by the MBA.
In 1987 Dave moved to Whitefish Montana where he took a job at KJJR as on-air talent and salesperson. He was served on the Whitefish Chamber Board and later in his career on the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce BOD, and Kalispell rotary. He won another MBA Broadcaster of the Year award in 1993.
Dave became General Manager at KOFI radio in 1997 and managed the station until he and a partner (Scott Davis) purchased KOFI from the owners in 2000. In 2011 they added another station at Lakeside Montana and launched 94.3 “The Lake” to their broadcasting portfolio.
He enjoyed the nearly five decades of helping his communities with special events through broadcasting local high school sports, University of Montana sports and doing fund raisers and food drives.
