Fred J. Flanders, Treasurer

Mr. Flanders spent his entire professional career as a banker, working for over forty years with a wide variety of financial institutions, including the regulation of financial institutions by state and federal governmental agencies. After graduating with a degree in agricultural economics from North Dakota State University in 1958, Fred began his professional career with banks in Denver, Colorado and Anchorage and Juneau, Alaska. In 1974, Fred moved to Montana where he worked for a series of other financial institutions, including Bank of Montana, D.A. Davidson, Norwest Bank, and finally as President and CEO of Valley Bank of Helena from 1991 to 1999. Fred also served as the Commissioner of Financial Institutions for the State of Montana from 1986 to 1989) and as Managing Agent for the U.S. Government’s Resolution Trust Corp from 1989 to 1991. In 2006 Mr. Flanders completed his career as a banker when he retired as a member of the board of directors for Glacier Bancorp, a publicly traded bank holding company. Fred and his wife, Judy, are retired and living in Helena, Montana.
